Design Request – “Design a Modern Addition on an American Architectural Classic”.
The clients wanted a sleek and modern second story addition. Several schemes were presented and ultimately a balance was struck – Respect the Architectural Lines of Yesteryear while Embracing the Materials of Today.
The new addition took on the modern materials- Cement Board Siding, Metal Panels, Aluminum Windows, and Metal Architectural Details while embracing the elegant architectural lines of the Arts and Crafts Era. The interior echoed the response with warm touches of wood panels, exposed beams, and a soaring ceiling height of 15+ feet at the highest point. The marriage of Modern New meets Classical Craftsman – SUCCESS!
