Design Challenge – If you cant find it in the store, lets design and build it!
When the opportunity presents itself to design a furniture piece we can’t wait to begin designing. Often times you just can’t find exactly that piece of furniture you need in a store. So we went to the drawing board-it’s actually a computer…, and designed and built this media console with a back panel all out of walnut.
The design requirements had to serve two purposes. Block the existing window due to the desired TV location and create an entirely new look to the interior. In addition we had to be as less invasive to the existing window so structuring a support system where minimal drilling into the home was a requirement.
The back panel which supports the flat panel TV will stand off the window wall creating a design element. This stand off effect creates the opportunity for the instalation of the LED strip lighting behind the entire panel giving an ambient light to the interior.
At the end of the day we were able to design and build a custom piece of furniture for this home. Problem Solved.
